Enrollment
How do I sign up for classes?
Browse the available classes on our Online Classes page and select the level that's right for your current experience. From there, click through to our enrollment portal at tsawonline.com, complete the enrollment form, and submit payment. Your spot is confirmed once payment is received.
Do I need prior acting experience?
No prior acting experience is required. TSAW offers Beginner classes specifically designed for actors who are new to the Chubbuck Technique or who are just launching their professional careers. If you are completely new to acting, the Beginner class is your starting point — it is designed to meet you where you are and build your foundation from the ground up.
What is the age requirement?
All adult classes — Beginner, Intermediate-Advanced, and Master Class — require participants to be 18 years of age or older. TSAW also offers a Teen Class for actors ages 13–17, which introduces foundational technique elements in an age-appropriate environment before students transition to adult classes at 18. Note: the Teen Class is currently on hiatus.

The Technique
What is the Chubbuck Technique?
The Chubbuck Technique is a twelve-step method developed by acting coach Ivana Chubbuck, outlined in her book The Power of the Actor. It focuses on using a character's objectives — what they want from life and from each scene — as the engine of performance, driven by authentic personal emotional truth rather than manufactured feeling. The method covers everything from overall and scene objectives to substitution, inner objects, inner monologue, and ultimately letting go of the preparation to perform freely and spontaneously. It is one of the most widely used acting methods in Hollywood. Learn more on our Twelve Steps page.

Classes & Format
Are classes held online?
Yes. All TSAW classes are held online via Zoom — live, interactive, and accessible from anywhere in the world. Sessions are three hours long and run four consecutive weeks per monthly enrollment cycle. Class times are listed in US Pacific Standard Time. You will need a stable internet connection, a camera, and a microphone to participate fully.
What class level is right for me?
TSAW offers four levels: Beginner (new to the Chubbuck Technique or just launching your career), Intermediate-Advanced (prior acting experience and foundational Chubbuck knowledge), Master Class (advanced or professional actors with substantial credits), and Teen Class (ages 13–17, currently on hiatus). Review the full descriptions on our Class Descriptions page. If you are unsure, the Beginner class is always the right starting point for anyone new to the method.
